Planning blog

Today is March 12, 2020 and my blog is going to be a planning blog. Monday march 16, i’m going to  write a blog about my plans on re shooting. In my blog that’s due on the 19th it’s going to be about my titles. Like the font I want to do and the color. I will also add the transitions of the titles. Like how they are going to be coming in and leaving the screen. I’m going to also add the timing they will be on the screen. March 30th blog will be about my process re shooting. When, where, and what scenes I re shot. April 2nd blog will be about editing. What app i used and the struggles I had while editing. Also details about my film. Like if all the scenes are good like the quality and sound. April 6th i’m going to make sure everything is edited well and good to turn in. I’m also going to be writing the script for my CCR. April 9th turn in the finished film product and the CCR.

Re- edit

Today is 3/9, a blog is due. Today’s blog is about re editing my project. Before the peer review I didn’t completely finish editing. Now i’m working on finishing it. But there are some scenes I may have to re shoot. Like scenes I thought editing could fix. For example scenes with a lot of background noises. Or scenes that are blurry. I also need to get more scenes with the camera angles and movements. I will start working on everything this weekend. My friend is coming over to do some more recording. Hopefully I’ll be done with everything in two weeks. I’ve been working harder to get everything done. I want to start working on the reshoots sunday after getting my volunteer hours. But I may do it saturday, but I may have things to do that aren’t confirmed.

Peer review

Peer review was Tuesday March 3. I had group 17 which was Derek, Jahzenyah and Jada. I believe they are all juniors. I wasn't able to review their project. I was making up a test for my general paper teacher. It was about the book we're reading, Odyssesus. I forgot the peer review was that day. But because I wasn't in class and neither one of them were present the next day when I was there. Their project wasn't reviewed. My project also wasn't reviewed since I wasn't in class and didn't have it the next day. My reviewer was Adrian. He is also a junior. I worked with Adrian on a previous project; the music video project. In that project we choose a song and did a music video of our choice on it. The song we choose was Sad by Xxxtentacion. That music video was a success. I enjoyed working with him and Alexis. I hope this project is just as successful.

Editing blog

I started filming last weekend when I got back from my trip to Tallahassee. I didn’t get to start editing though. But I know how I want to edit it. I want to cut out some unnecessary scenes. I might have to end up filming some more. I need to add the titles and fade in, fade outs, etc. I also need to work on the background sounds and try to raise the actor’s voices. I’m going to make the scenes have a neater transition. I am going also add transitions to the titles. I still haven’t figured out where i’m going to place the titles. Or the color I want to do it.
I’m going to fix some scenes Saturday. So I can completely finish editing once I’m satisfied with all of the clips. I should be done editing by next week. I plan on having everything ready by next week Thursday. If it’s not I’ll get it done next week Sunday.

Filming blog: Why I didn't film

As I mentioned in my other blog, I wasn't able to film last weekend. I wasn't able to film because I had an important meeting to attend. The meeting was going over what I was going to do in Tallahassee. I have to speak in front of 200 representatives about something that matters to me. So I spent the rest of my weekend writing the speech, and revising it. I leave Wednesday the 26th of February. And I return Friday the 28th of February. I'm going to start filming this weekend. I'm also going to try and edit it a little before the peer review. Me and my actors don't have anything to do this weekend so it's a good time to do it.
I want to film Saturday the 29th and depending on the time I finish filming. I may edit that night or Sunday the 1st. If I start filming around 3:00 in the afternoon I may be finished around 7:00. If that is how it happens, I will edit for about an hour and finish editing Sunday. But, i'm not positive that is how it's going to happen. A lot of things can change, like the timing and location of actors. But I have back up plans. If I can't edit the Sunday I will edit the monday, tuesday, or/ and wednesday. I just have to make sure it's done before Thursday the 5th. I will most definitely have my filming done by this weekend.

Filming blog

In this blog I would be talking about how my filming went. But I didn't get the chance to film. I didn't film because my actress couldn't have done it. She couldn't do it that weekend because it was a family member's birthday. So I turned this weekend into my weekend to catch up/ do work. I worked on my blogs. I went back and fixed the ones I did. And I finished the ones I didn't finish. I also took breaks to do other work, like Math and History. I plan on filming next weekend. Me and my actors are available.

I won't be able to do it this weekend because I have an important meeting. The meeting is about girls day at the capital. Girl day at the capital is a group of  girls that go to Tallahassee to learn more about women's history. We'll be going to museums and Colleges. The meeting is so important because it goes over procedures, what we need. It also goes over Chaperones and rest stops and all of that. At the meeting they'll tell us what is expected from us and how we should dress. They'll also let us know the consequences.
But my plans for when I do film is to go to the actors house. First we're going to go over the dialogue. Then we're going to have a test run of how everything should be positioned. Then we are going to shoot multiples times. So if one doesn't look good we have others. Then we are going to take a couple of breaks to eat and get something to drink. And then go over any suggestions they have. After I'm going to go home. I'm going to try and get some editing done.

Planning blog: Dialogue

In this blog I talk about what may be said. I have the music and sounds listed in there too for a reference. This is not how it's going to be exactly but this is just a guide line. This blog goes hand in hand with my script blog. That's how I knew where to put the dialogue for the scenes. There will be more sounds that wasn't mentioned in the power point. Like ambient sounds and sound tracks.

Planing blog: shooting script

In this blog I'm posting my scenes. How everything that is going to be done and the order of things. There may be changes in certain parts of the script. But for now this is how I want it to be. But to go further in depth about what's in the power point; the power point consists of the actions of the actors and some of the edits. For example I mention how there is a insert shot. I also mentioned how the girls were walking to the park, that's an example of actions i put in there.

I'm researching this website to help give me title ideas. The website has multiple examples of different title ideas. Including titles for my specific genre. Researching this website is helping me develop ideas for my movie titles. It is keeping my eyes open to better options/idea. It puts an image in my head of how certain fonts, edits would look. And how I would want my title to look.

My genre

I will be doing genre #2. Thriller, I feel like out of all the other genres it's the most interesting. I for one really enjoy thrillers. So It'll be easier for me to make a movie on it. I have a lot of experience with them from watching them. Thrillers are my go to genre. But unlike other thrillers I want mine to get to the point quicker.

genre powerpoint

During the process of making the genre power point, I was doing a lot of research. I was researching the CLAMPS of the genre. The common camera angles, camera movements, elements, lighting, sounds and example films. I tried to find pictures related to each subject. But not every subject had a good picture that correlated to it. Also during the genre project, I was still settling into the class, considering I switched into it a week prior. So, I had to get all the notes I missed to help with the power point.

Start of final task

Hi, my name is Kaylyn. You may remember me from my introduction blog. But if you don't it's ok, i'll tell you a little about me. This is my first year at Fort Lauderdale Highschool, i'm in 9th grade. I'm in the cambridge program. I graduated middle school from Parkway Middle School. I was there in the gifted program. I started high school with 6 credits. I love dogs, all breeds. When I get older I want to be either a veterinarian or a lawyer. For this project I will be working alone. But in my previous group I worked with Adrian and Alexis, they are both 11th graders.

I've learned a lot so far, a couple of things I learned is how to dump footage from a USB drive to a computer. I learned how to export footage, edit, and camera movements, camera angles, different sounds, and mis en scene. Some of the different edits are, split screen, cross cutting, dissolving, etc. Some of the different camera movements is close up, long shot, establishing shot, etc. Some of the camera angles is pan, tilt, zoom, eye level, etc. Some of the different sounds are diegetic, non diegetic, ambient, etc. I learned about mis en scence and a easy way to remember it (CLAMPS) costume, lighting, acting, make up, props and settings. I'm excited to use my editing skills in this project.

Pitch is a Hollywood term used to describe a idea for a movie. A pitch is usually 25 words or less.
My 3 Pitch Ideas:
1. Girls are having a day out. What's going to happen when they find out one of them have a stalker? Who will make it out alive?
2.  A visit to a friend's house takes a left turn after her friend tells her, her deepest, darkest secret. What was the secret?
3. A day at the park turns deadly when 2 girls realized they are being followed by a guy in a car. What does he want?

Part #2 of start of final task

The 2 pitches I narrowed it down to are:
1.  Girls having a day out. What's going to happen when they realize one of them have a stalker? Who's going to make it out alive?
2. A visit to a friend's house takes a left turn after her friend tells her deepest darkest secret. What is the secret?
Pitch 1 is good because it is a reasonable idea I can do. It's bad because most places don't allow video recordings. So the places we can go are limited.
Pitch 2 is good because it is also reasonable. But I don't think anyone would want to follow us in a car.

I'm deciding to put the 2 pitches together, I will record at a park but still have the idea of a stalker.

Filming blog #2

Me and my group started filming on Saturday, Nov 30. We were originally supposed to film Friday. Considering it was the day after thanksgiving we were spending time with family. Me and my group changed some important things in our video. Like the main person in it, instead of Adrian it was Alexis. The setting was also changed. Instead of Adrians house, it was Alexis’. We made this change because if we went to Adrian’s home it wouldn’t be any adult supervision. His step mom left for work. But those were the only things we changed.

We are going to update the planning blog. But the song is the same. Me and Adrian took turns filming. And as I mentioned before Alexis we performing for the music video. Adrian rode his bike over there and my Step dad dropped me off. We didn’t have much filming time because Alexis had to work. Adrian left first because it takes him a while to get home because he was on his bike. Even thought he had to leave early he was there for most of the filming. I left a little after him.

But at the end of everything we had about 11 minutes of raw footage. After cutting the unnecessary parts we had about 1 minute and 17 sec. to deal with. The minimum is a 1 minute and 5 seconds. We made the required by 12 seconds. Hopefully there aren’t any other parts that need to be deleted. We included angles in our filming like tracking shot, long shots and ect. Tomorrow we plan on editing on Alexis computer. We have to finish the whole music video by Friday. So me and my group have to work hard to get everything done by then. Then after that assignment we have the CCR and then we will be completely done.

Friday 11/22 me and my group were discussing our filming process. We were coming up with when we were going to film. But everyone was going to be busy the following weekend. Alexis had work. Adrian had to meet with family. And I had a club meeting. So we all decided to do it during break. Or the following weekend. But we know what we are going to film. How we are going to film it. We know our roles and settings.

Saturday since we couldn’t film I cleaned my house. I was cleaning my room. The bathroom. I did the dishes and swept and mopped. Then after that I started binge watching a show on Netflix called Jessie Jones. It’s about a girl who is basically a superhuman. She got her powers from when the doctors revived her after she was in a car crash. They added extra chemicals to her blood stream. It gave her the ability to fly and have extra strength.

Sunday we still aren’t feeling because this is the day Adrian meets his family. Sunday I went to breakfast. We went to spoons. It’s a family owned restaurant near my house. Then are I came home, I did some homework. I took a nap. Then I woke up and continued the series from Saturday. Around 4:00 I left to go to my club meeting. The club, is black youth assembly. I’m apart of the fundraiser Committee.

Health and safety: There’s a scene where Adrian “falls” off the bike. Our biggest safety issue is to make sure he doesn’t actually fall and hurt himself.
