  Today I was thinking how am I going to edit my commercial. Was I going to fade or cut certain scenes? Maybe I was going to make it jump to the next scene. But when we walked in the class Ms.Kats sat us down and told us how we wouldn’t be able to edit today. Pinnacle, the editing app on the computer was being overworked. So today instead we finished recording. Others took the footage off of the computer and put it on a flash drive.

Filming blog

On day one of filming I signed out the supplies that I needed, like the camera, tripod and etc. Before I left to film I made sure everything was working. If it wasn’t, I switched it out for one that was working. After that, I went to the track to start filming. As you should know from my previous blogs my commercial is on a water brand called mountain valley spring water. My commercial is going to be someone drinking the water after working out. It’s going show how the water refreshes the person. The track was extra hot so it wasn’t hard to get that exhausted look. And I didn’t have to use water as sweat since the heat was making me sweat already. But the problem I realized I had, was being able to do the camera angles and movements while acting. So I decided to ask someone to help me.

I got to the track and had to open the tripod. I had trouble opening it at first. But then I remembered how Ms. Kats demonstrated how to open it. After I got it opened I finished setting it up by putting the camera on top. Then I turned on the camera and started recording. I had to do multiple shots to get a good enough shot. But I plan on going back out Monday to get better shots. I need to make sure I get all of the necessary angles. When it was time to close it, I was stuck like it was a puzzle. But I ended up figuring it out.

Now that I know what to do Monday with the filming process. It will be a easier and faster process. I’m going to also start my editing process Monday. I plan on adding titles. I plan on making scenes dissolve and etc. I want to add back ground music or a voice over. I want to edit out the background sounds in my video. I also want to cut some scenes out. I have a lot to do until this blog is finished. I have to keep working until this commercial gets to where it needs to be.

Editing blog

Today I learned how to work pinnacle studios. I learned how to import my footage from the computer to Pinnacle studios, I also learned how to export the footage from Pinnacle studios to the computer and the meaning of Raw footage. I learned how to work the cameras, and the process of signing it out, putting in the usb and how to open the camera stand. I learned how to edit and add titles to my pieces of footage. I learned how to cut out footage using Pinnacle studios and how to add transitions. I learned the meaning of dumping, it means to take the footage from your camera and add it to the computer.

The Camera procedure is to sign out the camera and camera stand. After signing everything out you can start working, when your done working your supposed to put the camera on the charger. When you’ve finished filming you take your raw film and Dump it from the camera to the computer. After dumping open a folder in the computer and find your footage, add your footage to the folder and import it to Pinnacle studios. After editing your footage export it back to the computer. Pre watch your video to make sure everything flows smoothly.

You can use the camera stand/ tripod in multiple ways. You can use it to tilt film, to pan handle, Dutch, over the shoulder, 2 and 3 shot, close up, medium shot, etc. You can get music/ sound from YouTube and convert the audio to add it to the footage. You can also shorten scenes by cutting out unnecessary parts. You can do a voiceover by making a video of what you want to say and get rid of the video, only leave the audio.

Planning Blog for Mountain Valley Spring water commercial

The assignment is to make a commercial for the product of your choice. My product is Mountain Valley Spring water. Today we are planning out our commercials and writing our blogs. I am going to emphasis the fact the water is refreshing. I am going to have someone look really tired from working out, with sweat dripping. The someone will hand the water, they'll take a sip, smile and start running again.

   The Conventions of water commercials:

• The commercials usually have a personalized narrative, the information is relevant and attracts the audience to get a sell.
• They usually open with a medium shot and a pull focus.
• The settings are usually in a forest or after playing outside
• Usually in a documentary form or cartoon/animation
• It's usually slow classical music in the background

    The Codes of water Commercials:

• They usually have the setting of the commercial in a forest to symbolize the pureness of the water. 
• They also may have a person drinking it, this symbolize how refreshing the water is.

Introductory Blog

    Hi! My name is Kaylyn, I'm a 9th grader at Fort Lauderdale High school. I turned 15 September 17th 2019. Before I came to Fort Lauderdale high school I attended Parkway Middle School since 3rd grade. I was in the Gifted Academy Program (GAP). I'm usually shy when I first meet people but once i get comfortable with you, you'll see how fun and energetic I can be. At a first look people may see me as stuck up or rude because of my face but if they actually talk to me they'll see how nice I truly am. Once I get attached to you, your going to be stuck with me.

    I enjoy helping others and solving puzzles like; crosswords, word searches, sudoku, 2048 and jigsaw puzzles. I like animals, especially dogs, I have 3 a Shih Tzu Yorkie mix and 2 Pitbulls. I like fall simply because of the nice breezes. I like the thrill I get from horror movies and mysteries. I'm okay with presenting/ being in front of people as long as i'm not up there by myself. I don't like liars or people who don't show any respect. I don't like being in the sun to long or doing nothing for to long. I also don't like hypocrites and sushi.

     I take geometry, Biology, Modern History, P.E., Media Studies, Criminal Justice, Study Hall and General paper. If I'm being honest most of my classes don't have a significant meaning other than classes I have to take except for Media studies and Criminal Justice. I enjoy Media studies because I like to take pictures and I want to get more in to that, I also want to learn more about film in general. I like Criminal Justice because I want to learn more about criminals, like what they think and why they do what they do.
